Tenemos ya el 8 de Marzo a la vuelta de la esquina. Celebración cuya semilla nació en Copenhague de la mano de Clara Zetkin, con el objetivo de conseguir igualdad de género y derecho a voto. Si Zetkin hubiera desayunado leyendo que Dinamarca es el país europeo con mayor índice de violencia hacia la mujer, como poco se le hubiera atragantado el café. http://fra.europa.eu/en
Pero este país escandinavo no es el único; a su 52% le siguen con un muy estrecho margen varios vecinos: Finlandia con un 47% y Suecia un 46% Este estudio llevado a cabo entre 42.000 mujeres, a través de 28 países miembros de la EU, no recoge hechos denunciados oficialmente, de violencia física y sexual, si no que son muestras recopiladas durante entrevistas personales. Las figuras de los países nórdicos se antojan cuanto menos curiosas al compararlas con naciones de arraigado catolicismo y tradición patriarcal. Muchas agresiones no se denuncian por miedo a pasar insufrible trámites judiciales, porque se ponga en duda su credibilidad, por vergüenza y culpa (muchas víctimas se sienten únicas responsables de lo ocurrido) ante familiares y amigos. Las agresiones en el ámbito laboral son ahogadas por el miedo a perder el sustento. Por otro lado, también hay que valorar la posibilidad de que las víctimas del estudio en los países escandinavos, hayan sido provistas de información: una educación dirigida a reconocer y valorar abusos o violencia contra el género femenino, desde edades tempranas, atribuyéndoles la legitimidad del derecho a hablar de cualquier abuso de género del que hayan sido objeto.
A todas luces, las medidas que se están tomando no dan los resultados deseados. Se está soslayando la herramienta básica: la educación. Si no educamos en igualdad ni a saber identificar que se es víctima de este tipo violencia, no podremos hacerle frente. Aprender a reconocer una agresión y denunciarlo no es fácil cuando hay un componente afectivo o roles de poder-sumisión con el agresor, en muchos casos la inherente dependencia emocional inmoviliza a la víctima. Es responsabilidad de educadores y padres procurar unos valores de igualdad a hijos e hijas, de respeto y dejar de fomentar roles masculino vs femenino, así como cesar en la sexualización de la infancia. El único arma del que podemos proveer a las futuras mujeres y hombres es este, si no empezamos a cambiarlo desde el ámbito familiar , es muy difícil que lleguen a convivir en una sociedad igualitaria.
Tampoco corren los mejores tiempos para las libertades de la mujer en España con la reciente amenaza de penalizar el aborto libre. La defensa del derecho al aborto será el denominador común de las movilizaciones en el país. Un derecho tan peleado y necesario se puede esfumar de un plumazo por obra y arte de un gobierno fascista que esta aniquilando los derechos que trajo consigo la llamada democracia. Espero que nuestras voces sean oídas y no se cometa otro acto de violencia contra la mujer, otro abuso contra nuestro cuerpo y voluntad.

Unlike in Catholic and “machistas” countries: where many attacks go unreported because going through court proceedings are another ordeal in itself, or their credibility could be under question, or due to shame and guilt (many victims do feel responsible for what happened to them) from family and friends. Harassment in the workplace is often drowned out by the fear to become jobless. On the other hand, must also bear in mind that victims in the Scandinavian countries survey, might have been provided with information: an education pointing how to address abuse, harassment or violence against women, from an early age, conferring them the legitimate right to speak and stand up against any gender abuse which they have been subject.
No wonder any set of laws taken to tackle this issue have turned out in vain. We are underrating a basic tool: education. If we educate towards gender equality and how to identify that you are victim of this kind of violence, we could face the subject with confidence and knowledge. Learn to recognise harassment and sexual violence and report it, is not an easy task when there is an emotional attachment with the aggressor, in many cases the inherent emotional dependency block the victim’s will. It is responsibility of educators and parents to promote values of equality and respect to sons and daughters, and dismiss male vs. female roles, as well as tackle an increasing sexualisation of childhood. These are our only weapon to provide future women and men, if we do not begin to encourage equality from our very domestic environment, they hardly will overcome this curse.
Another step backwards is about to be taken by Spanish government concerning women’s rights. A stark new Abortion bill ,threatening the current Spanish Abortion legislation , so hardly fought and fundamental that, under this Draft Law, abortion on demand will become a criminal action, unless a few exceptions such as: rape and physical or mental health risk for the mother . In both cases women would need two doctors for vouch for her. This is the ultimate dirty trick emerging from an ultra-fascist government, as well as undermining the working class rights that, the so-called, democracy brought along. I hope our voices are heard and fight back a law which is another act of violence against women, our bodies and freedom.
